I
met Jaklen and her sister Tracey at about the time of a solar eclipse in Melaka,
Malaysia. It was a very brief endounter, but thereafter we exchanged emails every
once in a while. I very much admired her get-up-and-go, which took her skills
in Public Health (Masters Degree from Yale, USA) and Disease Control, into front
line situations fighting and researching, often as a volunteer, against the scourges
of Polio, AIDS, Tuberculosis and Hepatitis B in such places as Bangladesh, Philadelphia,
Thailand and Beijing. Our World suffered the untimely loss of her life just before
the millenium year 2001 began. I wish to salute her selfless dedication and love
of humanity, by creating this link to her memorial site. Go there and glimpse
some of the joys of her life and find out how you might be able to assist in the
continuance of her work.
